ASE Group, formerly known as Advanced Semiconductor Engineering Inc., was founded in 1984 by Jason Chang and Richard Chang, and is headquartered in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. The company focuses on independent semiconductor assembling and test services for customers around the world. ASE Group has won several sustainability awards, including the first low carbon building certification in the world for a semiconductor packaging plant. In 2016, ASE and Siliconware Precision Industries merged to form a new holding company, and both companies continue to pursue sustainability and environmental initiatives.
ASE30 is an environmental conservation fund established by ASE in 2014 to support environmental protection activities in Taiwan. ASE pledged NT$100 million per year for 30 years and has participated in programs sponsored by the fund. The fund has benefited 60 schools, 230,000 students, and 84 hectares of reforestation. Additionally, the fund has helped plant more than 90,000 native trees. The fund has also helped fund a series of renewable energy projects and other projects.
